"Children's Hour" Series at the 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse

Easter Bunny delights will be featured at "Restaurant 51 Children's Hour". Historic Edenton State Historic Site in partnership with The 51 House restaurant and owner Rose Tumerello will host this special event.

The Easter Bunny-themed program will include construction of a craft. Topical books, Easter Bunny related.

Refreshments provided by The 51 House will include Easter treats, apple juice and water. Parents are welcome to stay, watch or participate in the hour long program.

Annual Taverns & Trolley Beer Tour

In Celebration of NC Beer Month - the annual Taverns & Trolley Tour will be a little different this year. Tickets will be available only in advance, sold from the Penelope Barker House Welcome Center. The Trolley will depart at 3:30 pm on April 8th. A single trolley run, limited to 22 adults (age 18 & up).

A brief, narrated tour includes historical taverns and local highlights of Edenton; thereafter making a stop at Edenton Trading Company for a craft beer tasting. Back aboard the trolley for additional touring before the second craft beer sampling stop at Waterman's Bar & Grill.

Following the Tour, you're on your own to revisit your favorite 'watering hole' for additional tasting and refreshments; or you may want to make reservations at one of Edenton's fine dining establishments. It's NC Beer Month!

A Day with the Easter Bunny

In cooperation with Unanimity Masonic Lodge, 215 E Water Street, "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny", including pancakes, sausage, milk and orange juice from 8 am - 9 am at the lodge.

Following breakfast, an Easter egg Drop/hunt will take place on the 1767 Courthouse Green. Special sections will be designated for children ages 2-4, 5-8, and 8 & up to retrieve candy filled eggs. The egg hunt will be from 9:30 - 10:30 am. The Easter Bunny will be on the Green for free photo opportunities. Children's crafts and games will be offered and Spring chicks and Easter ducklings will also be on display.

Wrapping up the holiday festivities, a Hay Ride by Joseph Goodwin is offered. Commencing from the South Courthouse Green lawn, - Joseph Hews Monument and will be provided from 10 am - 12 noon.

Tickets: Breakfast with the Easter Bunny $2/person; Easter Drop, crafts & games $2/child; Hay Ride $2/child and all 3 activities as a package $5/child - $2/adult.

Historic Edenton Pilgrimage Tour of Homes and Countryside

18 Private homes and plantations along with five public buildings which are each more than 100 years old open to tour. Many special features include celebration of the 250th birthday of the Historic Chowan County Courthouse, carriage rides, history reenactments, and REPLACEMENTS, LTD china will highlight "The Art of the Tables: Set for Celebration" in the Panel Room of the Courthouse.

Also available: boat tours, luncheons, and on Friday evening Destination Downtown Edenton presents Boogie on Broad, a family friendly street dance with The Embers.

7th Annual Edenton-Chowan Kiwanis 5K Race/Walk

Historic Edenton with its 18th Century Historic Buildings, Tree Lined Streets and Friendly Faces becomes the footprint for this year's event. Register at RunTheEast.com prior to the event and the day of registration takes place at the Historic Edenton State Historic Site, 108 North Broad Street. A scholarship for an aspiring college student becomes a reality with funds raised.

Tidewater Orchid Society's Orchids on Display

Historic Edenton State Historic Site will host the Tidewater Orchid Society during the Pilgrimage Tour of Homes with a display of tropical and native orchids exhibited at the Hisotric Edenton Visitor Center. This collection will be viewable during regular operating hours 9 am to 5 pm at no charge.

Orchid flowers are some of the most bizarre and diverse on earth. They can be shaped like buckets, slippers, helmets or even flying ducks. Orchids come in virtually every color of the rainbow. Floral fragrances are equally diverse, from pleasantly sweet to almost foul. Once considered the "flowers of the rich", today people in all walks of life and in all corners of the world grow these beautiful flowers.
