Wayne Smith, former CEO of a New York-based publishing company, with 30 years experience in this field, will speak at the Shepard-Pruden Library in Edenton Monday. Due to bookstores closing as book sales move online and e-publishing is becoming a rising phenomenon, the traditional book business is going through a complete "makeover". Wayne will share his own experience, and thoughts on the future of publishing at his lecture scheduled for Monday May 22nd at 5pm at the library.
There will be a "meet and greet" gathering at 5pm where food will be served, with Wayne's presentation beginning at 5.30pm. Preceding Wayne's presentation a short David Blomquist poem will be read by Gigi Charlebois from the Edenton Coffee House on Broad St.
The David Blomquist Memorial Lecture series, organized by the Friends of the Library, celebrates the world of creative writing and communications, and is a fitting tribute to the memory of David, a dear friend of the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library in Edenton. Future lectures in the Summer and Fall will explore the world of creative photography, and local history.
