Harriet Jacobs Walking Tour

The Harriet Jacobs Tour is provided by advance reservation to any group of 5 or more at $2.50 per person (under age 2 free) throughout the month of February, Tuesdays- Saturdays, 10 AM - 4 PM. This is a walking tour but the golf cart will be encouraged. The tour is about 1 hr and 15 minutes in length.

Individual Self-guided tours are available at no charge. Call or visit the Historic Edenton State Historic Site Visitor Center (252-482-2637 or andrew.cole@ncdcr.gov for information and tour package.

The Harriet Jacobs Tour begins at the Historic Edenton State Historic Site, Visitor Center with a brief orientation. The tour continues to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, then to the corner of S. Granville and W. Eden Streets where the home of Dr. Norcom is interpreted; to West King Street, Wessington House lot near Beverly Hall where on this location once stood the home of Samuel Tredwell Sawyer. The tour continues to the lot where once stood the home of Harriet's grandmother, Molly Horniblow followed by the location of Dr. Norcom's medical office and then the location of Horniblow's Tavern.

The tour continues with the 1767 Chowan County Courthouse and Chowan County Jail followed by the Edenton Waterfront, with interpretation on the Market House, Snaky Swamp, the home of Martha Blount and ending at the Harriet Jacobs Historical Highway Marker
