12th Annual Armchair Traveler Series: Destination Chowan County

In Celebration of Chowan County's 350th Anniversary, the 12th Annual Armchair Traveler Series will highlight significant areas of Chowan's Heritage.

Armchair Traveler Series: Book Talk: "The Pursuit of the Dorothie: The Lost Colony Ship"

A decayed, copper-bottom, oceangoing ship was discovered on the headwaters of Bennett's Creek, on the edge of the Great Dismal Swamp. Join author Lucy Daniels in a discussion about this historic novel researched by Donald Paul Upchurch. Noon at the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library, Second Floor Meeting Room. Free Program.

72nd Chowan County Regional Fair

"Celebrating 350 Years of Regional Growth" is this year's fair theme as Chowan County Celebrates their 350th Anniversary. During this celebratory year, the Fair will highlight Chowan's Heritage through exhibits, activities, amusement rides and entertainment with great food at the American Legion Fairgrounds! Join the Chowan Arts Council as they feature Edenton Through Photography during Chowan County's 350th Anniversary

Have photos you would like to submit for this show. Drop off up to three of your favorite photos of Edenton through the years. the more artists the merrier. Drop off begins the day after Labor Day! Please bring framed photos between the hours of 11-4 pm Monday - Friday or call 252-482-8005 to arrange another time.

Cupola House Celebrates 100th

Join the Cupola House Association as they celebrate their 100th Anniversary Membership Appreciation Event in the 1758 Cupola House Gardens. This is a Members Only event, but all are cordially invited to join our Association to be included in this wonderful celebration. Membership information can be found on www.cupolahouse.org. Colonial displays, speakers and a North Carolina Pig Pickin' are just a few of the planned activities.

All of this taking place during Chowan County's 350th Anniversary help make 2018 a great year for celebrations.

Queen Anne's Revenge September 1 - 30

To commemorate the 300th anniversary of Blackbeard's adventures along the North Carolina coast, the place where he was ultimately brought to justice, the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is showcasing a traveling exhibit that includes artifacts representing weaponry, nautical tools and personal items recovered from his wrecked flagship the Queen Anne's Revenge (QAR). Open at the Historic Sites' Visitor Center 108 N. Broad Street, Edenton, NC, Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5pm.
