Holladay's Island Camping Platforms
Five platforms are nestled on the shore of the Chowan River on Holladay's Island - first observed by non-native visitors in 1586 during an expedition led by the first governor of Sir Walter Raleigh's Colony of Roanoke. The island was later acquired by Thomas Holladay in 1730 and has remained virtually unchanged for over 400 years.
Part of the Albemarle Regional Canoe/Kayak Paddling Trail for wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts. 20 miles from Edenton and accessible only by paddle or motor boat. Reservations required.
