Learn of Penelope Barker's organizing of the Edenton Tea Party, the 2nd floor Furniture Exhibit and the offerings in the Book and Gift Shop. Self-Guided Touring also begins from this site along the Museum Trail with social distancing.
Trolley Tours leave at 10:30 am; noon and 2:30 pm Mon, Wed,- Sat. Sundays at 11:30 am and 1:00 pm (May - on seasonally).

The Historic Edenton State Historic Site Visitor Center is open with walking tours at 10 am and 2 pm as well as visiting with COVID procedures in place for keeping everyone safe. 1767 Chowan County Courthouse; 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse; 1800 James Iredell House and Dependencies. The Visitor Center is open 9 am - 5 pm.

A great month to get out and discover the rich history that has and continues to make Edenton a special place to live and visit. Begin your tour at the Penelope Barker House, 505 S Broad Street and continue along the 15 sites. It is also possible for all ages with picture taking and journaling to be shared in the upcoming fall classroom.

Please join us every Saturday for the weekly farmers market, held indoors in the Farmer's Market Building as well as outdoors. Local farmers and artisans will be on site with a wide variety of items for sale, including organic fruits & vegetables, meat, eggs, honey, baked goods, arts & crafts and a whole lot more! Seasonally, the market is held on Wednesdays from 3 - 6 pm through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving also.

Celebrate with us and our neighboring counties of Camden, Currituck, Perquimans and Pasquotank during a week devoted to Travel and what it means for all of us in this region and throughout the state of NC.
On Saturday, May 8th - Edenton and Chowan County invite you to take a complimentary Trolley Tour, Paddle Our Creeks, River, Bay and Sound using at no cost equipment from the Edenton Harbor Office, Tour our Historic Sites such as the 1767 Chowan County Courthouse, 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse, 1827 James Iredell Historic Home and Dependencies highlighting unique architecture, historical figures that have made all that has taken place possible. Old Jail Tours will also be available - you will just need to go to the Penelope Barker House Welcome Center to get your ticket and it will let you know what time your tour will take place.
Call and Reserve your Spot with Historic Edenton for their Historic Crafts & Trade Event taking place at the James Iredell House in celebration of National Tourism Day. Visiting Tradesmen will be in attendance.
