Whether you’re passing through on your way to the Outer Banks or visiting for the week, there are plenty of locally owned restaurants and convenient fast food options in Edenton and Chowan County. Choose a flavor and indulge in your pleasure!

Evening Delights

We invite you to experience several fine- and casual-dining restaurants in and around town. Most establishments post menus and specials on their storefronts or sidewalk placards, so take a peek while shopping on Broad Street. Several area restaurants have cozy lounges and bars serving cocktails, fine wines, and regional craft beers.

Local picks

Eat like a local and sample the southern fare several restaurants serve or experiment with down-home recipes that offer a twist on the traditional dish. Sip on locally roasted coffee and join in the conversation with local town folks. Several restaurants offer “catch of the day” options of local seafood and farm-to-table fresh vegetables grown in Chowan County.

Grab and Go

Plan an informal alfresco lunch along Colonial Waterfront Park that features tables, grills and clean restrooms. The Edenton Farmers Market is a great place to shop for local produce and meats, fresh baked goods, regional seafood, and other farm fresh items. We’re a town surrounded by water so it’s not unusual for folks to fill their coolers with cold beverages and load up on some picnic supplies before they launch their boats. Get creative — Local paddlers have been known to place their order on their cell phones while kayaking up to pick up their meal. The same thing goes for cyclists!

Free Breakfast and Local Picks

Wake up to a hearty meal before you start out on the day’s adventure. We have a number of B&B’s around town as well as hotels that offer free breakfast to their guests. This is the perfect time to get the local scoop from innkeepers and hotel operators on things-to-do, special events or interesting side trips. The region along the Albemarle Sound has a number of excellent historic sites, state parks, and waterfront towns which offer excellent day trips for travelers wanting to explore the area.

Food Lore of the Chowan

Some guests are more adventurous than others when it comes to exploring new food and drink experiences. No worries, we’ve got all your eating-out schedules covered with these intriguing selections. How about a mid-week supper club at a lovely brick Victorian B & B that features various seasonal themes and cuisine each month? Or if you don’t mind standing in line, come out for a mobile lunch served by one of our favorite local food trucks. Share an evening and drinks with the locals at the popular Vinyl Night. And for those looking for local goodies to take back home, drive along some of our rural country roads and pick-your-own fruits or veggies or stop by one of the many roadside fruit & vegetable stands in the county.
