If you’re looking for a special Edenton experience, stop by A Still Life + Cotton Gin Inn Culinary, a creative collaboration between Cindy Gandee and Cheryl Orr, which opened on S. Broad Street in July of 2022.
Seemingly overnight, they created a sensation!
As Cindy says, “we are so grateful for the reception we have received from our community and surrounding area. Cheryl and I both agree the combined offering of brunch and shopping in the same space makes for an appealing way to spend a day in Edenton.”
From the moment you walk into their retail space, you’ll immediately notice the attention to detail and quality. Among the beautiful decor you can find jewelry, handbags, scarves, hats, candles, books, kitchen items, baskets, blankets, plant pots, and art.
Cindy explains that her “desire in opening A Still Life was to create a calming, attractive atmosphere where people could browse for accessories and furniture for their homes. I think most people want their homes to be a refuge and nesting place. A Still Life offers a wide variety of vendors for home accessories displayed on European antiques.”
So, if you’re shopping for a wedding gift or the perfect accessory for your home, you’ll find a variety of options and friendly, knowledgeable service at A Still Life.
But shopping for luxury goods and fine gifts is not the only thing you can do in this retail space.
If you wander toward the back, you’ll find a beautifully appointed restaurant where Cheryl prides herself on being “able to offer attention to detail and locally-sourced, organic, and high quality ingredients.”
New brunch options are offered daily and the menu choices reflect Cheryl’s creativity and culinary skills. You’ll be tempted by dishes such as Lavender Honey Creme Brulee; Ham, Asparagus, and Gruyere Crepes; and Creamy Stone-Ground Grits with Etouffee and Seared Shrimp.
“Brunch is a very small part of what I do, with Supper and Breakfast Club prix fixe meals, cooking classes, catering, and private chef brunches and dinners making up the majority of my business,” explains Cheryl.
With options such as Crab Napoleon, Cocoa Chili Rubbed Pork Tenderloin, and Lemon Saffron Risotto, you can choose from over 40 gourmet cooking classes, the perfect setting for a friends’ night out or a romantic date.
Truly, this successful collaboration has become an exciting addition to Edenton’s downtown.
So, whether you’re looking for exquisite home decor, a delicious brunch, or a fun night out, I invite you to come visit and experience A Still Life + Cotton Gin Inn Culinary!
