The Future is Bright in 2024!
As the holiday season brings friends and families together, many people reminisce about wonderful memories from the past year and look forward to what the next year will bring.
In Edenton, we are celebrating the milestones we met in 2023 while eagerly anticipating the exciting events that will be happening in 2024!
If you visited Edenton this past year, you know what a banner year we enjoyed.
From sold out events – such as Shrimp By the Bay and the Christmas Candlelight Tour – to the kick-off to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Edenton Tea Party, we had a lot of reasons to celebrate!
We really hope you were able to join us in those celebrations, but if you didn’t visit Edenton in 2023, there’s still a lot to look forward to in 2024.
Here are some of the events that we invite you to come and experience with us in Edenton.
This two-day affair is the perfect way to enjoy springtime in Edenton! Come stay in one of our exquisitely decorated B&Bs and then join us at the Cupola House Gardens. You’ll enjoy plein-air artists in a beautiful outdoor setting. This popular biennial event will be held in April 2024, so reserve your tickets soon!
We are very excited that plans for the launch of the Harbor Town Ferry will culminate this spring. This ferry system will connect Edenton with other historic towns along the Albemarle Sound and Roanoke Island. When you visit Edenton, you’ll be able to enjoy sunset cruises, learn about the history of the region, and explore shopping and dining in towns all up and down the Albemarle Sound.
Edenton residents have always enjoyed spectacular water views and life on the water, including exceptional fishing opportunities. Now, we invite you to come visit us this summer because the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour will take place this June on the Chowan River! If you are a fishing enthusiast, this is one opportunity you won’t want to miss. So, book one of our B&Bs or local rentals, make yourself at home here in Edenton, and catch a front row seat to one of the most competitive bass fishing tournaments.
#4. Hayes Farm
The history of Hayes Farm extends back to the 18th century when Samuel Johnston, the fourth governor of North Carolina and a United States Senator, settled on the property in Edenton. Recently, the State of North Carolina purchased the property and took over its preservation with plans to open it as a state historic site. This magnificent and historic Edenton property boasts stunning views of the Albemarle Sound, and we are thrilled that locals and visitors will get to enjoy its beauty and history! In 2024, exploration and renovations of the property will continue, and we invite you to come see this important work.
Last year, we kicked-off our celebrations of the 250th Anniversary of the Edenton Tea Party with several special events. If you weren’t able to join us then, don’t worry. The celebrations will continue all year long as we remember this important historic contribution of the earliest known political action written and organized by women in America! From Edenton Tea Party Trolley Tours to special guest speakers and events, you can celebrate with us all year long. The culmination of these celebrations will happen in October on the 250th Anniversary.
For the first time ever, Edenton’s Christmas Candlelight Tour sold out in 2023! Maybe it was the opening of Hayes Farm as part of the tour, or maybe it was the tour’s exceptional reputation, but over 1200 visitors flocked to Edenton to experience the magic of the Christmas Tour. If you missed out in 2023, we invite you to make plans now to join us in 2024. Tickets will go on sale in July for the tour which will take place on December 13th & 14th.
Now you can see why it’s no wonder we are excited for 2024!
The future is bright in Edenton, and we don’t want you to miss out on experiencing the welcoming hospitality, historic charm, and wonderful events we have planned for this next year.
